There is a waiting list to receive one of the approximate 156 dock sites and 96 slip sites for inland (non-abutting) Mound residents. The wait time for these sites is dependent upon many factors. Currently, wait times for most areas is about 5 years.
New wait list applications are accepted from January 2 to the end of February. The applicant is then put on the waiting list and assigned a number, which is established via a lottery at the Parks, Open Space and Docks Commission meeting in March. The new wait list applicants then join those on the current waiting list. Each person has their wait list number, which changes as they move up in succession as non-abutting dock sites come available due to site holders who don’t renew. Note: you must complete a wait list application every year until you are selected for a dock site. If you fail to do so you will be removed from the waiting list. An application will automatically be mailed out to you at the end of each year. If you don’t receive an application however, it is your responsibility to make sure an application is completed and submitted by the deadline stated above.
Renewal wait list applications for those currently on the waiting list are mailed out on December 31. The applications must be completed and either submitted to City Hall or US Post Office postmarked by the last day in February. If the application is late you will be removed from the waiting list. There are no exceptions to this. If you don’t receive an application in the mail, however, it is your responsibility to make sure an application is completed and submitted by the deadline stated above.
Waiting list applicants need to be aware of an Ordinance that states: Dock rights (once you receive a dock) will be revoked immediately if past due special assessments, water/sewer bills, property taxes or delinquent dock fees or penalties are not paid by April 15th.
It should be noted that only a handful of docks are awarded each season.
